What You Want to See from a Moving Company Before Agreeing to Use Them
An experienced mover simplifies your moving process, so locating the one that seems like the best fit for you becomes crucial. What should you look for from the moving company you use, though? We will talk about that a little bit right now.
They Must Charge You a Reasonable Price
First, you need to consider the price when you are looking at some different moving companies. You probably have a certain amount that you have allocated for this move. You can’t go over that number, even if you come across a company that has excellent reviews.
Talk to one of the moving company’s representatives and let them know what you’re moving and where you’re going. They will usually give you a quote based in part on how much furniture and how many boxes you will have. They will also base their quote on how far you’re moving.
If you’re moving across the country, it makes sense that it would cost more than just moving across town.
If the price that the company quotes you sounds good, that is a major point in their favor. However, you should consider a few other factors as well.
They Should Have a Responsive, Professional-Looking Website
You can learn a lot about a company by checking out their online presence. That means visiting their website.
When you arrive at the site, see how long it takes to load. It should load smoothly and easily. Do you like the graphics on the landing page? Does the site feature plenty of full-color pictures and videos? Does the website copy have any misspellings or sound like a non-native English speaker wrote it?
All of this makes a difference. If you see that a moving company has a professional-looking website that’s easy to navigate, that probably means they’re more reputable. If you’re not seeing that, you may need to reconsider.
They Should Have Lots of Positive Feedback
The moving company you use should also have plenty of positive feedback online. You should see plenty of five-star reviews when you look at not just their website but their Google My Business Listing and other reputable websites where consumers have a chance to rate their experience with a company.
If you see glowing reviews, you should feel more comfortable about using this entity. If you see some horror stories, though, then you might want to go with a competitor instead.
They Should Seem Friendly
When you contact a moving company, you will presumably deal with one of their representatives. You might speak on the phone with this person. They might also set up a Facetime call with you so that you can walk around your house and show them the furniture and larger objects that you’re going to want the company to move.
During that initial call, see how you feel about the person with whom you’re interacting. Do they seem friendly? Does it seem like they want your business?
If they seem rude or standoffish, you don’t have to go with them. If a company’s representative seems unfriendly, you can always go with one of their competitors. A company should want your business, and in the moving niche, you should usually be able to find a competing company that seems more appreciative of you and the money you’re proposing to pay them.
They Must Drive to the City or Locale Where You’re Going
You might also find a moving company that fits all of the criteria we’ve mentioned. Maybe they quote a reasonable price, they seem friendly, and they have an excellent website with plenty of five-star reviews. However, none of that really matters if they don’t go to the state or city where you’re moving. Some moving companies won’t even drive to certain neighborhoods within the same city in which they’re located.
Make sure you bring up this subject with the representative you speak to early in the process. If you mention a city and say you’re moving there, but the moving company will not drive that far, you will need to find some movers that do.
