What inspired you to start in real estate and how did you motivate yourself to keep going?

The ability to help and guide others through one of the biggest, scariest, and most enjoyable times in their lives.

Comparing your business from back then to now, what has been the main thing that allowed you to expand your business?

Abundance mindset & being able to take a mental step back from situations in order to asses and solve problems.

What’s the most profitable aspect of your business, why do you think this is and how can others apply this to what they are doing?

Information. Giving out information that helps others without asking anything in return. Want to break down all the aspects of purchasing your first, second, or seventh home? No problem. Want to know what makes a solid investment purchase? I got you. Even if someone doesn’t utilize myself in their purchase or sale, I want them to feel knowledgable and comfortable with each decision they make. Others can take this aspect and apply to practically any part of their business or life. Give without asking.

When did you realize you were successful/made it and how did you feel/celebrate?

I don’t think that point has been hit yet and I hope it never will! I love the process too much to feel like I’ve “made it”, I guess.

Looking back, what could you have done sooner to get to that point quicker?

Changed the overall mindset/narrative within my own business and constantly learning. Switching from the terrible scarcity mindset to one of abundance and becoming a student each day through reading, listening (podcasts,etc..), and watching something new about the business each day. .

What should other real estate entrepreneurs reading this be focusing on to expand their own business?

Expanding yourself while niching down your business. You owe it to yourself and your clients to be the absolute best you can be. Expand the knowledge you have about the business and remember you can’t be everything to everyone so find your niche where you can provide the greatest amount of help.

How has social media and online marketing affected your real estate business? How much more success have you had now after implementing social media and online marketing efforts?

It’s affected it quite a bit! Definitely in a positive way by providing a great channel to interact and educate with people who have questions about anything in real estate! The amount of success has been increasing. I believe it’s because others can see and say “hey this guy knows what he’s talking about.” Or at least I hope

How did you build your team?

Out of the blue! Another agent and I were throwing around the idea of me starting a team. He said “I’d join”…he did and the rest is history! Since then, there’s been some amazing, deeply caring, and driven agents who joined.. and because of that I’m grateful for them.

How did you become a good leader?

By knowing there are no excuses and the sole responsibility of what happens is ultimately my fault. If something goes wrong, then it’s my fault and I own that.

Did You Experience Failures? If So, What Did You Learn From Them?

Sure! At the start of my career, I assumed my clients were telling me exactly what they needed in a home, investment property, and/or when selling their home and I would meet that criteria each time. And I was wrong each time. It was a disservice to my clients because I wasn’t truly listening to the actual problem they needed solved but only scratching the surface of what they were wanting.

What do you consider the main differences between those people who have been successful in your industry and those who have failed?

Main thing is GRIT. The industry is incredible tough. Financially, mentally, and physically. It will beat you up if you don’t push through, educate yourself, and set/track goals.

What’s Your Approach To Marketing?

I want to be the hub of free information for people. I want people to know if they have a question then I have an answer. To do so, I try to put out as much clear and informative content as I can. I’m definitely not posting “LOOK WHAT I JUST SOLD, IF YOU HAVE ANY THOUGHTS OF BUYING OR SELLING CALL ME”. That. Doesn’t. Work.

Final Thoughts

Take ownership of everything you do and know that you’re not the hero in your client’s journey. They’re the hero and you’re the guide.
