What inspired you to start in real estate and how did you motivate yourself to keep going?

Coming out of reality TV, I wanted a job that I was my own boss and could make my own schedule. With my husband being a top lender in Vegas, it made sense for me to try out real estate. Once I sealed my first deal, I was addicted! I love helping families find their next home – it’s a big purchase & take pride that my clients trust me to help them through the process.

Comparing your business from back then to now, what has been the main thing that allowed you to expand your business?

Social media. I didn’t want to mix my social media following with business (I know, ridiculous) But once I did, I got busier and it just snowballed into what I’ve built today.

What’s the most profitable aspect of your business, why do you think this is and how can others apply this to what they are doing?

SOCIAL MEDIA! The best part about it? It’s FREE. All you have to give is your time & consistency. You never know who’s scoping out your profile and who’s looking to buy/sell a home.

When did you realize you were successful/made it and how did you feel/celebrate?

My first deal, lol. It was only a $250,000 listing, but I thought to myself, “Wow! If someone can trust me in selling their home – I can do this!” I celebrated by paying off a student loan.

Looking back, what could you have done sooner to get to that point quicker?

Put myself out there sooner. When I first got into this business I was so timid & unsure of myself – it felt like every agent I interacted with knew more, sold more, made more – in some aspects that was true, but it shouldn’t have hindered me & my self confidence.

What should other real estate entrepreneurs reading this be focusing on to expand their own business?

Put yourself out there. When you see your friends, remind them what you do. Give out cards like crazy, to whoever will take one. Social media is key!

How has social media and online marketing affected your real estate business? How much more success have you had now after implementing social media and online marketing efforts?

Getting into real estate, I had an advantage with over a 2m following – which was kinda a double edged sword. It was hard to weed out the genuine leads & the creeps (and there were A LOT of creeps). I lost a lot of followers, but gained even more that were interested in what I had to show for my real estate career.

How did you build your team?

I don’t have a team; just a partner, Shelly Tavison.

How did you become a good leader?

Take no crap & don’t fall for what ever anyone tells you. And I’m not good with people telling me what to do, ha!

What do you consider the main differences between those people who have been successful in your industry and those who have failed?

In order to be successful in this industry, you have to stick out. Whether it be a catchy slogan, quirky attire – just make sure you stick out. Sure, you can be a 9-5 agent, but how will that get you to the next level? Working above and beyond for clients, is one thing that successful agents all have in common. If you’re not willing to pick up your phone past 5 pm, then good luck in this industry.
