What inspired you to start in real estate and how did you motivate yourself to keep going?
Growing up, my family couldn’t afford to own a house so we would rent every year instead which means that we had to move around a lot. I enjoyed getting to see the new places we were going to live in each year which slowly built my curiosity for real estate I believe. Once I graduated and had a full time job, I realized working a 9-5 behind a desk just was not the type of job I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I moved to New York City to build a career and run around the city as much as I can so sitting behind a desk was mentally draining for me. Starting a career in real estate gave me the ability to run around the city looking at new apartments, just like I did as a kid, but I was actually able to make money doing so while also helping others. There are definitely times where this job can be really challenging both mentally and physically, but the positives always outweigh the negatives and couldn’t imagine myself doing anything else.
What should other real estate entrepreneurs reading this be focusing on to expand their own business?
I believe that the most important thing to do is really focus in on your personal brand and making sure that everyone in your sphere of influence knows you are in real estate. When you first start in this business, you need as many people as possible to know what you do. You never know where and from whom the business may come from.
How has social media and online marketing affected your real estate business? How much more success have you had now after implementing social media and online marketing efforts?
Social media has absolutely changed everything for me in regards to my career. I focus heavily on Instagram and YouTube to push out content. Some of my biggest deals I have worked on so far in my career, have come from social media leads. Until you are ready to invest in social media as another marketing platform, I believe it will be really hard to reach your full potential as an agent.
Did You Experience Failures? If So, What Did You Learn From Them?
Of course, I experienced failures. I think it’s really important to embrace failure as a tool for success. Without failing, we can never truly learn how to improve over time. In order to grow, we must learn from mistakes. If you’re not failing, you’re not trying.
What do you consider the main differences between those people who have been successful in your industry and those who have failed?
In my opinion, the people who succeed are the ones who have a strong why behind everything they do. If you don’t have a strong why/reason behind what you are trying to achieve, then on the days when you really don’t feel like doing anything and are feeling defeated, it’ll be really tough to push through.
If it wasn’t for my team that I am on, The Gasdaska Conlon Team, I wouldn’t be half the agent that I am today. I would like to thank Property Spark for recognizing my success on social media as a real estate agent. Excited to see what the future holds!
