What inspired you to start in real estate and how did you motivate yourself to keep going?
My inspiration came from me growing up around real estate as my dad was a successful real estate agent.
I started working as an admin in his real estate office at the age of 16 along with retail management and never thought I’d be making this a full-time career. Sure, it was nice getting my foot in the door at a young age and building my experiences but it wasn’t until my first year of college that I really grew into loving real estate. I then worked for 11 years in the industry on a management level with a variety of different brokerages. About 9 months after joining The Invidiata Team – I knew exactly what I wanted to do forever… helping people with their biggest investments in life – felt like home!
My clients are my motivation. I am a complete people person. I enjoy being around people and helping others. You know what they say…. “If you want happiness for a lifetime, help somebody.” The greatest thinkers have suggested the same thing: Happiness is found in helping others.
What should other real estate entrepreneurs reading this be focusing on to expand their own business?
Find a mentor, find a culture and find a team that supports your success. Find the right circle. The circle that wants to see you win. The circle that claps loudly when you have good news. This can be an incredibly difficult career if you don’t have the right resources and support system. Many don’t realize what they are getting into. Working with the right people is extremely important.
How has social media and online marketing affected your real estate business? How much more success have you had now after implementing social media and online marketing efforts?
I’ll start of by saying that 2020 & 2021, despite the pandemic, were record breaking years for me. Social media has played a big role in my success and I have closed many transactions with clients who contacted me from Instagram & Facebook.
I often have real estate agents message me and ask for tips on how I handle my instagram page. Being an influencer is definitely harder than it sounds. It’s a full-time job. You have to set goals, be determined and stay consistent with your efforts daily. You have to show up every single day – no matter what. My Instagram page is basically my resume!
Did You Experience Failures? If So, What Did You Learn From Them?
Yes. I strongly believe that experience comes from making mistakes and learning from them. I think life’s greatest lessons are mostly learned from your worst mistakes. I learned that it is okay to make mistakes, learn from then and move on!
The only real failure to me, would be the one from which you learn nothing.
What do you consider the main differences between those people who have been successful in your industry and those who have failed?
I think having a business plan is very important. When you fail to plan, you plan to fail. Many new agents jump into the business wanting to make this a side gig and without creating a road map to where they want to me in 5/10/15 years. It’s not enough to just want to make money. You must develop a list of directions to get you to where you want to be with your career. This is where a business plan comes in.
Aside from that, I think people that have failed in the industry and failed to make this a full-time career. It is definitely possible to work part-time as a real estate agent. But if your goal is to fully replace your income, and not just to make extra money on the side, you can’t just work part-time. If your goal is to make real estate your full time job, then at some point it actually has to become your full time job! That takes a lot of determination & just overall consistency in your daily efforts.
