What inspired you to start in real estate and how did you motivate yourself to keep going?
When I was 21 I purchased my first home and flipped it a few years later for an attractive profit. That quickly increased my curiosity on how I could start to build my personal wealth using Real Estate investments, which in turn developed my desire to help others achieve the same.
Comparing your business from back then to now, what has been the main thing that allowed you to expand your business?
Never losing focus of what’s most important…my clients. It’s easy to get caught up in a fast paced market, and even easier to let the small details of service get overlooked. I think a lot of agents are always chasing that “next lead”, and I place my attention on my past and current clients. Referrals speak for themselves.
When did you realize you were successful/made it and how did you feel/celebrate?
I don’t think I will ever feel like I’ve “made it”. My career goals are always progressing…keeps me on my toes!
I’m as in love with my career as I was my very first sale, and extremely grateful to have found a business I’m so passionate about.
What should other real estate entrepreneurs reading this be focusing on to expand their own business?
Surround yourself with like minded real estate entrepreneurs. I always think of the saying, “If you’re the smartest person in the room, you’re in the wrong room”. Have a look at your brokerage, team…even friends. Ensure they are people who will lift you up, lend you knowledge, and help you learn from your mistakes.
Did You Experience Failures? If So, What Did You Learn From Them?
Absolutely. Rarely in the business world is there success without failure. When I encounter failure, I try and tackle it head on. Use creativity and actually take the time to organize my thoughts. I’m always open to grow.
What do you consider the main differences between those people who have been successful in your industry and those who have failed?
Discipline. I’m not a believer in “motivation” as a driving point for success. Motivation never lasts, and it’ easy to be motivated when the commission cheques are rolling in. Discipline to work on your business today, everyday.
