What inspired you to start in real estate and how did you motivate yourself to keep going?
I started a career in real estate when my first child was born. I wanted to be able to have a flexible schedule that allowed me time for the moments that matter the most.
Comparing your business from back then to now, what has been the main thing that allowed you to expand your business?
Connecting with people has allowed me to grow my business substantially. Helping people find “Home” is my goal and that quality of service has been the driver behind referrals and repeat customers.
What’s the most profitable aspect of your business, why do you think this is and how can others apply this to what they are doing?
The most profitable aspect of my business is referrals. It takes minimal effort to simply talk to someone and find out their goals. Using that information, then getting them set up with the right agent in their area is something that has worked wonders for me. I think this is a great addition to any sales strategy because it is low risk-high reward.
When did you realize you were successful/made it and how did you feel/celebrate?
When I started to see that the work I was putting in was paying off and starting to grow my business I knew I had zeroed in on a winning strategy.
Looking back, what could you have done sooner to get to that point quicker?
I think with any profession, there is a learning curve. With every difficult transaction comes a learning experience and I do not really feel that you can avoid that. Its all based on trial and error with what works and what doesn’t in this business and no two markets are the same.
What should other real estate entrepreneurs reading this be focusing on to expand their own business?
Consistency is key – I know that sounds cliché but it is true.
How has social media and online marketing affected your real estate business? How much more success have you had now after implementing social media and online marketing efforts?
Social media has been my number one source of business. The more I interact with people, the more business comes in.
How did you become a good leader?
I like to help newer agents in this business because it can be difficult in the beginning. It is helpful to let people know they aren’t alone in any trials they are facing in this career.
Did You Experience Failures? If So, What Did You Learn From Them?
Initially I paid for leads – it was an epic failure and a waste of money for me.
What do you consider the main differences between those people who have been successful in your industry and those who have failed?
Consistency. There will always be cycles of ups and downs but continuing to put in the work even when things aren’t busy will lead to more sales in the end.
Final Thoughts
People will forget things that you have done and things that you have said… but they will ALWAYS remember how you made them feel. If you treat your customers right, they will be loyal customers for life.
