What inspired you to start in real estate and how did you motivate yourself to keep going?
I have been fascinated by real estate since the age of 18 and jumped at the opportunity to get my license when I moved to a new town when I turned 24. I’ve always been intrigued by interior design and grew up with family in the home building industry so mix that up with my love of working with people and it just seemed like a perfect fit! Real estate truly is feast or famine and coming up on 8 years I’ve learned you have to stay persistent, believe in yourself and surround yourself with likeminded people if you want to make it in this industry long term.
Comparing your business from back then to now, what has been the main thing that allowed you to expand your business?
I think one place I really excel is social media marketing and just marketing myself in general. Even through Covid I stayed consistent and I’ve grown my page/pages not only to local residents but also to agents from all over the world! I love being able to connect and share ideas, humor and keep each other motivated and the best part is I’ve gotten my last three referrals from Instagram alone.
What’s the most profitable aspect of your business, why do you think this is and how can others apply this to what they are doing?
There are so many ways to make money in real estate whether it’s selling traditional residential, land, dabbling in rentals, building a team or investing in companies stocks. The main thing is you just have to put yourself out there and make sure everybody you meet knows you are a real estate agent but do it in a way that people just know you are a professional but not pushy. To piggyback off what I said earlier about social media, that’s free advertisement! The fact that you can put yourself out there for local residents and real estate agents gives you two separate avenues alone to get business and I think that’s huge!
When did you realize you were successful/made it and how did you feel/celebrate?
I feel like I’m growing every day. I just feel blessed that I’m starting to get a repeat business and in the process of starting my own real estate team. I’m very excited for what’s to come! I feel like every day is worth celebrating!
Looking back, what could you have done sooner to get to that point quicker?
If I could do it all over again I would have more confidence in myself, I would tell myself it’s the agent not the broker, and I look myself in the eye and say, Consistency is key!
What should other real estate entrepreneurs reading this be focusing on to expand their own business?
Don’t just focus on the money. There’s already a million other real estate agents in a blazer that are only chasing the paycheck. Take good care of the clients and it will all come back around and take care of you.
How has social media and online marketing affected your real estate business? How much more success have you had now after implementing social media and online marketing efforts?
1000% putting myself out there on social media has been huge for my business. The first four years of my business I barely posted or out myself out there and did not even have an Instagram. Since I started my page almost 3 years ago I’ve grown and closed over $1 million in sales in the past six months alone!
How did you build your team?
I have been a solo agent for the past 8 years. I’m currently in the process of starting a team Brokered by eXp realty I couldn’t be more excited!
How did you become a good leader?
I think being a good leader comes with experience, a true passion for what you are doing, along with attention to details.
Did You Experience Failures? If So, What Did You Learn From Them?
I truly don’t think you can be a successful real estate agent if you have not been burned and learned the hard way a few times. Real estate can be extremely stressful and it’s not always Selling Sunset. I have cried and made mistakes, lost clients, and done things I wouldn’t do again but I truly believe everything happens for a reason and each time was a solid lesson learned.
What do you consider the main differences between those people who have been successful in your industry and those who have failed?
I think everyone has failures and you can’t always look at the highlight reel of the people around you but I truly think the difference between successful people and those who have failed is the successful people never gave up. It’s easy to give up or blame your failures on others, but to keep your head above water and continue to be successful after defeat is a true success story.
What’s Your Approach To Marketing?
I’m all about personal touch when it comes to my marketing whether that’s making videos or custom posts on Instagram or putting together goodie bags for my neighbors and the teachers at the local schools. It’s all about the details!
Final Thoughts
I truly love what I do and hope to do it for many years to come!
