What inspired you to start in real estate and how did you motivate yourself to keep going?

I was inspired at a young age by my father to get into real estate in some form. However, I didn’t decide I wanted to be an agent until later when I realized I LOVED sales and people. Motivation is garbage I truly believe, it comes and goes like the wind. Although having a “WHY” is motivation that will always be and never leave you high and dry. My why is using all the potential I have in my life and creating legacy by changing peoples lives through not only real estate but business. In a more detailed description I would suppose it boils down to living a life of intentionality and care for my peers and friends. I want to be remembered as the one who changed peoples lives through generosity and for generations to come.

Comparing your business from back then to now, what has been the main thing that allowed you to expand your business?

When I first started I didn’t know what I was doing. I didn’t even know sales was a skill that you could improve. Through the years I found that all sales was, is knowing your product and solving the customers problem. I go above and beyond for all of my people and that has lead to a 10x effect in my overall business. However through it all social media and managing my relationships has been the largest key to growing my business.

What’s the most profitable aspect of your business, why do you think this is and how can others apply this to what they are doing?

The most profitable thing is once again social media. People don’t realize that their social media is their business card. When people hear your name what do they do? They scroll through their Instagram and find you. Do you align with their values? Do you fit their personality? Questions from consumers can be quite easily answered through a social media platform. The largest impact on my business has been simply giving content to my consumers that will help them in their lives and real estate transactions. It’s easy and free! Such a practical thing that most agents don’t take advantage of.

When did you realize you were successful/made it and how did you feel/celebrate?

I don’t think I’ll ever believe that I’ve made it. Have I made it to a point of financial freedom and happiness for my career? Absolutely. However that’s the greatest thing about living a life of drive and purpose is even when you’ve made it, theirs still more to achieve. I’m going to most likely work until I’m in the grave. Simply because I love it! I love working with purpose! Will it always be real estate? Probably not. However I can garuntee I’m not stopping until I’ve created a real estate empire!

Looking back, what could you have done sooner to get to that point quicker?

I suppose if I would’ve taken personal brand, video and social media more serious earlier on I would’ve been much more successful. However I don’t ever want to redo my journey. I’ve loved making the mistakes I have because it has taught me many more lessons along the way than any college ever could have.

What should other real estate entrepreneurs reading this be focusing on to expand their own business?

I would say, do what makes you happy. Whether it be social media, networking, door-knocking, or digital marketing. Whatever you do make sure it is something you’re good at and love doing! This makes it easy and fun and it will ultimately seem much more genuine to the consumer.

How has social media and online marketing affected your real estate business? How much more success have you had now after implementing social media and online marketing efforts?

MASSIVELY. I most likely wouldn’t have half the success I have had so far without social media. I find new ways to use social media daily and I don’t ever think I’ll be an expert but all aspects of social media are worth it and very growing.

How did you build your team?

I believe in hiring character and teaching skill. Anybody can learn sales, it’s much harder to learn integrity, honesty, and work ethic. That’s something that we learn from a young age and from our parents. Not to say that people can’t change, however it’s much easier to improve on sales or marketing than it is to get rid of laziness.

How did you become a good leader?

I think I’m still learning day by day to be a better leader. However, for any character trait, it all boils down to consistency. Learning to public speak, learning to be confident in one on one meetings, learning how to speak in front of a camera, but all comes from just DOING IT. “It’s not what we do once and a while that shapes our lives, it’s what we do consistently.”

Did You Experience Failures? If So, What Did You Learn From Them?

Of course! Failures come a LOT in the real estate industry. It’s learning how to be thankful for the failures and the education that they bring that results in growth. Every failure teaches a different lesson. Some of the largest failures I’ve had have happened to me in real estate and each one teaches me how to improve.

What do you consider the main differences between those people who have been successful in your industry and those who have failed?

There’s a lot of things that make an agent successful but what I’ve found as the largest factor, has to be self-image. The way we see our selves has a massive impact on our lives and the agents that don’t truly believe that they can move forward or be successful ultimately fail. Self image and courage is SO important especially as a real estate agent.

What’s Your Approach To Marketing?

I truly just believe in providing value. Asking the consumer if they want to buy or sell with you is just annoying. But give them tips and questions to make them think and they will come running to you. It’s all about being a teacher first and a salesman second. If you can provide value to the consumer, that’s all that matters.
