What inspired you to start in real estate and how did you motivate yourself to keep going?
I always wanted to work for myself and the idea of having no ceiling in terms of income really attracted me. Financial freedom and generational wealth motivate me. I grew up with a single mother. Both of my parents struggled to give me a great living. Now is my time to give them back the life they sacrificed for me. They are my “why” and i wont stop until I get to that level.
Comparing your business from back then to now, what has been the main thing that allowed you to expand your business?
My instagram has been the number one lead gen source for me. I started to create funny real estate related videos and since then my brand just took off! Its allowed me to differentiate myself from other agents while remaining completely authentic! I love where my path has taken me so far.
What’s the most profitable aspect of your business, why do you think this is and how can others apply this to what they are doing?
Building and growing off of a solid network would be the most important aspect of my business. I am constantly putting myself in front of people whether thats through social media or being out there in person. I make it my mission to meet at least 3 new people a day. At the gym, a starbucks line, etc. meeting more people and providing value will definitely help you sky rocket your business.
When did you realize you were successful/made it and how did you feel/celebrate?
During my third year in the business, strangers would come up to me in the streets of Toronto, in restaurants, in venues and clubs and tell me they see me online and love what i do. More and more people tell me that “Im killing it” and i guess this is where I realized that im on the right track.
I am still no where close to where I want to be, I am constantly educating and striving to be better. These little positive hints along the way are the fuel i need to keep going. I feel truly blessed and grateful to be where I am right now and look forward to the future years to come! No celebrating just yet.
Looking back, what could you have done sooner to get to that point quicker?
I could have built up the confidence in myself much quicker to just get on camera and pump out the content. Content, content, content!! That is the secret sauce to getting the right eyes on you and getting the inquiries to flood in.
What should other real estate entrepreneurs reading this be focusing on to expand their own business?
Build your brand. Be authentic, find a mentor and really focus on building yourself and your skills. People will be attracted to someone who is out there and knows what they’re doing. Patience is key and if you can build your brand properly, the reward is so worth it!!
How has social media and online marketing affected your real estate business? How much more success have you had now after implementing social media and online marketing efforts?
Social media has been the main driving force for my success thus far. There is just so much organic reach, and so many relationships established through social media that would not be possible otherwise. I have been asked to influence for different brands and things outside of real estate and the experiences have been insane!
Social media is the new business card and when people are looking for a realtor you better believe they’re checking you out on social media so make it great!
How did you build your team?
I am on my own.
How did you become a good leader?
I self develop daily. Whether through books, podcasts or coaching I am trying to build strong core values for myself so that one day I can lead a successful team and help others achieve their goals.
Did You Experience Failures? If So, What Did You Learn From Them?
I experience failures all of the time. They are my favourite!! In the moment they suck, but if you can reframe your mind from living in fear of mistakes and instead welcoming the valuable lessons that failures will teach you, that is when real growth happens.
Embrace the failures!
What do you consider the main differences between those people who have been successful in your industry and those who have failed?
Work ethic, confidence and persistence. It takes time, and a lot of people get into the business thinking it will be easy. It takes a lot of hours, calls, prospecting and hard work over time! If you’re not patient you will not last.
What’s Your Approach To Marketing?
To be yourself and attract the people YOU want to work with. You cant cater to everyone so its better to attract the people who want to work with the REAL you.
