What inspired you to start in real estate and how did you motivate yourself to keep going?

My husband has been a broker for almost a decade and I always watched and helped from the sidelines, but last year I decided to go full force and join him. It is my passion and I wish I would have made the career change sooner. I stay motivated because everyday is new and you never know what kind of leads you will get and who you will get to work with! I am also super passionate about finding and touring amazing homes with clients. No budget is too big or small!

Comparing your business from back then to now, what has been the main thing that allowed you to expand your business?

I actually wasn’t doing real estate and design full-time until last year. In 2020 business was booming and my husband needed me on his real estate team so I dove in head first! We had six listings in the Valley of Los Angeles in the last six months and many buyers reach out since then so things are busy and great! Social media and Instagram have been paramount to us getting leads and clients!

What’s the most profitable aspect of your business, why do you think this is and how can others apply this to what they are doing?

Instagram is key to growing our business and getting clients. I try to post a lot of our home tours, hashtag and post high quality content consistently in order to attract home buyers and sellers. Speaking of, go follow us on Instagram  @redesignproperties

When did you realize you were successful/made it and how did you feel/celebrate?

Growing a following on Instagram is really challenging and I have been doing it since 2013. Once I got over 20,000 followers I really felt like I was making headway. We also feel the success when we started getting so many listings and repeat clients and referrals because we were making people happy!

What should other real estate entrepreneurs reading this be focusing on to expand their own business?

I think get really clear on a target market and study up and live there and know it and you’ll be authentic in your expertise. Sharing about and constantly knowing your target market on social media is key to growing your business.

How has social media and online marketing affected your real estate business? How much more success have you had now after implementing social media and online marketing efforts?

Social media is amazing in the reach it gives you. The sky is the limit in terms of getting clients through social. It’s not easy, and it’s really time consuming, but if you follow people tagging your target locations and hashtags, then they will in turn follow you and be interested in seeing what you are up to and if you are someone they would work with down the line.

How did you build your team?

It’s just my husband and I and we work really well together. We each have different strengths and weaknesses and that really matters when you are working with someone. He is a great negotiator and I am more of the front-facing team member who is great with clients and helping them understand processes.

How did you become a good leader?

I think confidence is key and so is knowing your strengths and weaknesses. Asking for support and help is a must and trusting that other teams members can also take part of the workload is really important.

Did You Experience Failures? If So, What Did You Learn From Them?

I am new to real estate so I feel like I am constantly learning. Thank goodness my husband is a broker and has been doing this for so long. He teaches me a lot and helps me to not make so many mistakes.

What do you consider the main differences between those people who have been successful in your industry and those who have failed?

I feel like as much as you can put into real estate, you can get out of it. It’s very time consuming and you need to be on it all the time. You also need to keep learning and being open to being better. Having a mentor and broker who will teach you and always keep you on your toes is very important.
